About Thoseguys IT

IT support without
the runaround.

Those Guys IT has been my side business since 2003. It's for the kind of small business that needs one person who can deal with the server, the front-desk computer, the network, and the odd piece of equipment nobody else wants to own.

A career spent working through problems that cross hardware, software, networks, and vendors.

Where I'm coming from

Most IT problems don't fit
neatly in one box.

My day job is in medical imaging IT. When something goes wrong, the cause might be a server, a workstation, the network, a database, an interface, a piece of imaging equipment, or some combination of all of them.

That work has taught me to follow the problem instead of stopping at the edge of a job description. It's also why I pay attention to the workflow around the technology. Fixing the computer is not very useful if the staff still cannot do their job.

Why that matters here

A problem can start
almost anywhere.

I'm comfortable moving between the different layers of an environment until the problem makes sense.

The computers

Servers, workstations, Windows, storage, databases, applications, printers, and the usual assortment of peripherals.

The network

Switches, wireless, firewalls, VPNs, cabling, and figuring out why something can talk to one system but not another.

The specialty systems

Medical imaging, dental and optical software, clinical integrations, sensors, cameras, and equipment with unusual requirements.

The vendors

When the answer lives with a software or equipment vendor, I can describe the issue clearly and keep the handoff moving.

What it's like to work with me

Keep it clear.
Get it handled.

01No mystery

I'll explain what I found, what the options are, and what I think makes sense.

02No vendor ping-pong

If someone else needs to be involved, I'll help make the call and stay in the conversation.

03No mess left behind

Cabling, equipment, and documentation should make the next job easier, not harder.

04No oversized solution

I'll recommend what fits the business, even when the simpler answer is the better one.
